David BlackwellFew Are Chosen

2011CIFBFA (hons) Animation

Few Are Chosen is an animated short film which is representative of creative work undertaken in my Honours year in Animation at QUT in 2010.

The purpose of this project was to learn and develop skills which utilised automatism (similar to unconscious creative practice). These skills were integrated into my own animation production process, the consequence of which was the reversal of the traditional pipeline that animation uses. Instead of being formed around a concept developed before-hand in a pre-production phase, the process of making and animating dictated the form of the work. The end product is a short-film that plays with ideas about mark-making, boundary crossing and water.
