2007 › CIF › BFA (Fashion) The making of frock.paper.scissors – a forecast of fashion
frock.paper.scissors is the final outcome (and vehicle for assessment) of the unit Fashion and Style Journalism KFB 205 offered through the Fashion Department, Creative Industries QUT. “It is an area where interdisciplinarity is and can be practised across fashion, journalism, visual arts, cultural studies and communication design within Creative Industries, connecting content creation with enterprise and business, and production with consumption.” (unit outline) The entire publication process, including content, layout, advertising, marketing and staffing became a ‘real world’ experience for the forty two (42) fashion, journalism, business, graphic and creative industries students to add to their resumes. Assessment projects were negotiated with individual students so they could maximise their learning outcomes, and work within the chosen area of fashion magazine production to improve individual career outcomes. Feedback from the fashion industry and the public has been extremely positive and several of the students have acknowledged the impact the actual magazine (and the experiences they had producing it as a team) has helped in any job interviews. |
