Doppelgänger
|
2009 › CIF › BCI (Communication Design) We live in a world where we possess both physical and digital identities. However, digital security always seems to be one step behind those who wish to subvert the systems put in place to protect us. Doppelgänger engages people with this concept through an interactive visual narrative focusing on digital identity theft.
This installation consists of three interactive rear screen projections, which involve participants through varying levels of embodied interactivity. Concepts presented include our 'digital selves', our reliance on digital systems, and the futility of trying to restore a stolen identity. As an interactive artwork, Doppelgänger raises awareness of important issues surrounding identity in the current digital climate, where our activities are continually indexed and stored in thousands of databases. As the convenience provided by digital systems continually encroaches upon our personal privacy the question must be asked: do we submit to this future? Project Team
