The ways in which I relate to and construct art are inevitably shaped by the twin presence of the television and the computer. In Square Eyes, the ingested vocabularies of screen culture and print media are recoded through my own subjective experiences, and then regurgitated as corrupted fragments of content and style. The work’s edgy, shifting sense of humour allows it to operate at the juncture between sincerity and irony.

My slideshows are characterised by stylistic and conceptual instability. This restlessness both disrupts the work’s continuity, and enhances its cumulative impact. Square Eyes thus reflects the DIY aesthetic of an introverted amateur enthusiast whose pet project is destined to be perpetually unfinished and, simultaneously, always in a state of deconstruction.
