OUTHOUSE

2008BEEBachelor of Built Environment (Architectural Studies)

In current Western society, sexuality, sex and the human body have become ‘items’ that are confined to the private domain – hidden within the depths of the conventional house. This architectural proposition, the OUTHOUSE, challenges the definition of house and the roles of sexuality, sex and the human body within it. The OUTHOUSE endeavours to expose the public to these forms of ‘beauty’ by revealing more of the human action and behaviour that is commonly hidden away from view. The OUTHOUSE questions why typical housing segregates space into rooms for different functions.
