Plattenspieler
|
2010 › CIF › BCI (Communication Design) Plattenspieler is a human powered musical instrument. It is comprised of a tread-wheel connected to and powering a gramophone player through a series of cogs, pulleys and chains. Kinetic energy enables mechanical movement to turn the wheel and in turn drive the turntable and play vinyl and Bakelite record disks. Music can be heard using either gramophone needle pickup on Bakelite records naturally amplified through a brass horn or radiogram electric needle pickup on vinyl records amplified through speakers. Plattenspieler seeks to reconnect its contemporary audience with the simplicity and elegance of bygone machinery and immerse them in a joyous interactive environment.
