2010 › CIF › BFA (Fashion) The Autumn/Winter 2010 collection is based on the visual exploration of the meaning of organism, through the genres of mathematics, science and colour. The concept research led through gravity, physical form, definition of the whole, anatomy and algorithms occurring in nature. Of particular interest are grids, ratios and spirals and their ever-interlacing relationship.
This research highlighted Fibonacci’s study of numbers: ie: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,… The Fibonacci sequence was also inserted into the colour wheel and used to form the collection palette with white representing zero, and black signifying infinity. Heavy wool, crepe, merino jersey, silk satin and chiffon form the juxtaposition between solid and fluid in these garments. For the underlying jumper layers hand-knitted details on the cuffs and collars retained the human imprint on the range. |
